Vampires may have become popular for the last couple of years with books
such as the Twilight series or shows like True Blood or The Vampire Diaries. But I’m surprised when I hear that people are actually “living” this phenomenon.
This weekend, a 19-year-old man was arrested for breaking in a woman’s house and tried to suck her blood. Lyle Monroe Bensley was found growling and hissing in a parking lot wearing only boxer shorts. The young man claimed to be a 500-year-old vampire that needed to “feed”. Bensley is now awaiting a psychiatric evaluation in jail on burglary charges in Gavelson, Texas.
We don’t know as of yet if pop culture played a role in this incident but people are discussing on wether or not vampire books and movies have an impact on the youth culture.
